An energetic hike to the top of the Kips is highly recommended if not compulsory for Eastside guests! The West & East Kips rise up behind the cottages. Their ascent can be steep in places but the views are well worth the effort.

Experience the Scottish Highlands in miniature. Walk from the sheltered Eastside glen out onto wild heather moorland following the ancient drovers' road. Turn back into a steep-sided glen with rugged, rocky outcrops then homeward past the waterfall.

Take a leisurely amble around the Eastside glen. Stone walls criss-cross this farmed landscape with pockets of woodland connecting the lowland fields to the wild hill pasture. Lovely views prevail over the Eastside glen & Moorfoot Hills beyond.

This hike skirts the base of the South Black hill, a short climb up the eastern ridge to the summit cairn (perfect for picnics) before the descent taking in wonderful view of the Eastside glen and farmstead over the old Scots pines.
